Join our Bollywood dance class for an energetic and vibrant experience! This class blends traditional Indian dance with modern Bollywood moves, offering a fun and dynamic way to stay fit. Suitable for all skill levels, you'll learn choreography set to the latest Bollywood hits while enhancing your flexibility, rhythm, and confidence.
Week 1: Introduction and Warm-Up
• Focus: Basics and foundation.
• Introduce Bollywood dance style and its energetic and expressive nature.
• Warm-up: Stretching and cardio to upbeat Bollywood music to get the body moving and energized.
• Basics: Teach foundational steps, classical hand gestures (mudras), and simple footwork such as Bhangra and Lavani basics.
• End class with a mini-choreography to a fun Bollywood track, setting the tone for the session and encouraging students to express themselves.
Weeks 2–4: Energy and Expressions
• Focus: Building energy, expression, and progressing choreography.
• Progress the choreography from Week 1 by incorporating various elements:
• Teach fusion moves blending Bollywood with hip-hop or jazz to add modern flair.
• Focus on expression (Abhinaya) to teach students how to emote effectively with their facial expressions and body movements.
• Choreography: Work on a fusion track combining Bollywood and contemporary dance styles, making the movements dynamic and energetic.
• Teach how to transition between different styles and intensify the performance energy.
Weeks 5–9: Group Formations and Refinement
• Focus: Group dynamics, synchronization, and refining technique.
• Warm-up: Movement drills focusing on spatial awareness and ensuring students understand their place within group formations.
• Group Formations: Teach small group routines with rotating formations, line changes, and synchronized movements. Focus on clean, cohesive group transitions.
• Expression and Refinement:
• Refine choreography, emphasizing clean lines, hand movements, and facial expressions.
• Practice flow: Ensure smooth transitions between different parts of the routine.
• Teach students to project energy, confidence, and connection to the audience.
Weeks 9-12: Final Choreography and Show Prep
• Focus: Preparing for the end-of-year performance and polishing the routine.
• Warm-up: Light cardio, stretching, and short drills to get the group energized and prepared for the show.
• Finalize the Show Routine:
• Focus on perfecting steps, transitions, and formations.
• Pay attention to synchronization in group formations and individual technique.
• Mock Stage Rehearsals: Run-throughs of the routine with attention to spatial dynamics and placement on stage.
• Focus: Performance confidence. Teach students how to perform with energy and engage with the audience.
• Warm-up: Short drills to energize the group before the final rehearsal.
• Full Rehearsal: Practice the final routine as a complete performance.
• Celebration: End with a freestyle Bollywood session where students can let loose, followed by a feedback session to encourage improvement and celebrate progress.
End-of-Year Show Preparation
• Routine: Build a dynamic Bollywood medley that incorporates a mix of storytelling, group formations, and high-energy moments.
• Focus: Since no partner work is allowed, ensure all choreography is designed to highlight individual students or groups.
• Include songs with solo or group dynamics, ensuring every student has a chance to shine. Encourage students to showcase their unique style and energy.
• Final Rehearsals: Focus on timing, stage presence, and coordination for the big day.
